Completing the Lean Practitioner Certification demonstrates your ability to improve processes by applying Lean principles, methods, and tools. As a Lean Practitioner, your focus was on identifying waste, solving problems, facilitating improvement activities, and achieving measurable results within your area of responsibility.

The Lean Leader Certification builds on that foundation by expanding your role from improving processes to leading people and transforming organizations. As a Lean leader, your responsibility is no longer to drive improvement projects. Your role is to create the vision, develop people, align improvement efforts with the business strategy, and build a culture in which continuous improvement becomes part of everyday work.

Throughout this program, you will develop the leadership knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to guide teams through change, improve organizational performance, and sustain long-term success. You will learn how to think strategically, coach others to solve problems, lead with data, manage daily operations, and create systems that enable continuous improvement across the organization.

The program explores the essential capabilities of effective Lean leadership, including:

• Leading with Lean Fundamentals

• Value Stream Strategy and Systems Thinking

• Hoshin Kanri and Strategy Deployment

• A3 Practical Problem Solving for Better Business Decisions

• Scientific Thinking and Toyota Kata for Leaders

• Daily Management and Leader Standard Work

• Lean Metrics and Management Accounting

• Leading Change and Sustaining Improvement

• Developing and Leading High-Performing Teams

• Adaptive Lean Leadership

• Identifying and Managing System Constraints

By the end of this certification, you will be prepared to lead beyond individual improvement projects. You will be able to align people, processes, and strategy, develop future leaders, and build an organization where continuous improvement is not an initiative but the way everyone thinks and works.

How to Succeed in This Program

To get the most from this certification, begin by downloading both the Action Plan and the Lean Leader eBook. The Action Plan will help you organize your learning journey, while the eBook serves as a valuable reference guide throughout the program. Keep the eBook readily available as you progress through each course so you can quickly review concepts, frameworks, and best practices whenever needed.

Schedule at least four hours each week to work on the program. Consistently setting aside dedicated time will help you stay on pace and complete each course.

As you watch the videos, take notes on the key concepts you learn, ideas you want to apply, and any questions you would like to discuss with your coach during your coaching sessions. These notes will also help you prepare your final presentation and reinforce your learning.

Do not wait until the end of a course to complete the required forms and deliverables. Work on them as you progress through each lesson, applying what you learn immediately. Completing the assignments a little at a time will make the workload manageable, deepen your understanding of the material, and allow you to receive valuable feedback from your coach throughout your certification journey.

Finally, schedule a 15-minute coaching session with your coach every week. You may schedule coaching calls up to five weeks in advance, and before ending each coaching session, schedule your next one to maintain your momentum. If you are unable to attend a scheduled session, simply delete the meeting from your calendar. This will automatically notify your coach, and no explanation is required. Consistent coaching sessions will help you stay accountable, answer your questions, and ensure you complete the certification.
